Following up on his critically acclaimed 2015 LP b’lieve i’m goin down… and last year’s collaborative effort Whole Lotta Sea Lice with Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett, Bottle It In was recorded in a multitude of studios as Vile criss-crossed over America while touring last year, with various tracks being recorded on the road in Portland, Connecticut, Brooklyn and Los Angeles. In a statement, Vile recounted his recording process he embarked on as he road tripped across America with his family, with his experiences influencing the ruminative lyrical direction of the album – “I’ve been bouncing around a lot and recording all over… My family would meet me in the middle of America, and we’d go on a road trip somewhere. I would record in between all that stuff.”
In support of Bottle It In, which is set to feature artists such as Kim Gordon, Cass McCombs and Australian born drummer-in-demand Stella Mozgawa, Vile has released a rambling new track ‘Bassackwards,’ clocking it at just under ten minutes, acting as “the album’s beating heart and Vile’s most compelling evocation of how he sees the world.” Check out the video below:
