King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard tease their heaviest album yet with ‘Self Immolate’

Check out the thrashing new track below:

We’d have to go way back to Friday April 26, a hiatus spanning all of four and a half weeks, for the band’s last release, with the blues/boogie infused Fishing for Fishies exploring the more groovy and boogy side to the group’s repertoir.

And this time around, taking into account the surprise release of ‘Planet B’ before Fishies, the prolific wizards’ 15th studio album looks like it will be a return to heavier digs.

“For us, we were trying to do the heaviest [music possible]…” frontman Stu Mackenzie told the Triple J crew in an interview yesterday, “…Take it to the next level of scariness and fastness than we’ve ever done before. We didn’t grow up making heavy metal so it comes from this different place than usual.”

The upcoming album has no release date yet, but it’s fair to assume it won’t be too long before some more King Gizz goodness is pulsating in our eardrums.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will be touring in Australia in June and July with tickets still available from the band’s website.
