In Hearts Wake team up with Polaris singer Jamie Hails for ‘Hellbringer’

Bolstered by a soaring chorus and some classic metal riffage, ‘Hellbringer’ sees In Hearts Wake and Hails address the notion that metal is the ‘devil’s music’, with the band drawing upon their experiences with extremist religious groups picketing venues outside their American shows for the hard-hitting track.

“At some of our American shows extremist groups have picketed outside, telling our fans that they’re ‘going to hell’,” In Hearts Wake vocalist Jake Taylor said in a statement shared today. “If only they knew just how positive the energy inside the venue was! Never judge a book by its cover. So rather than fight hate with hate, we decided to have some fun and lean into the metal stereotype.”

Taylor also elaborated on the meaning of the music video for ‘Hellbringer’, which sees the band lampoon the notion of ‘devil’s music’ in a tongue-and-cheek nature.

“In 2020 with live streams becoming the new norm, we decided to stage our own hell-bent circus. We thought it would be funny to ask Jamie to dress up as a werewolf, turn me into a vampire and rain blood on the entire band. Guess Halloween came early this year. Thank you Blade.”

Last month, In Hearts Wake detailed the release plan for their new album Kaliyugawhich arrives on Friday August 7. The album coincides with an environmental campaign from the group to promote sustainable practices, with the group offsetting their emissions throughout the recording process and aiming to manufacture physical albums with environmentally friendly materials.
