Russian Thistle is inspired by the Ken Bruns documentary The Dust Bowl. It contends that there’s a connection between the devastating effects of 1930s America and current challenges facing Australian farmers with respect to climate change. Dark, unsettling and dissonant guitar tones paired with Katie Scott’s climbing vocals create a powerful message.
