Lotta Sea Lice is the result of a partnership formed as both artists worked on their solo albums. Barnett and Vile’s shared musical ideas and dry humour produced a great deal of content for the album, including songs written specifically with each other in mind.
The pair has shared the video for once such song titled ‘Over Everything’, written by Vile in 2015 for Barnett. “I started spacing out and writing a song for Courtney,” said Vile in an interview with Rolling Stone. “I had a fantasy that she would sing it with me.”
Barnett and Vile worked together on ‘Over Everything’ in Melbourne where they developed content for Lotta Sea Lice. “We were mucking around, eating pizza, and we had all these songs all of a sudden,” Barnett told Rolling Stone.
