Dead Letter Circus announce new album, share first single ‘The Real You’

The self-titled LP, which will mark the band’s first all-new material in three years, was recorded over six weeks at Studio Circuit in Queensland.  Described as “the most organic album of the band’s career,” the new record sees DLC combine atmospheric sounds with driving riffs in what could be their most political output to date.

To preview the album, DLC has shared a new track titled ‘The Real You’. According to frontman Kim Benzie, the song is a reflection on the changing climate surrounding the world of social media.

“’The Real You’ was me absorbing the cultural changes that have grown around social media” says Benzie. “Life should be a journey towards letting go of the mask you create with your insecurities when you’re young.

“It feels like we’ve accidently created a culture where the concept of the mask is now what you aspire towards. The song is about craving an interaction that doesn’t have a filter.”

Dead Letter Circus is due for release on Friday September 21 via BMG. Pre-orders are available here.
