Beastie Boys are releasing a 600-page memoir featuring an actual cookbook

Mike D and Ad-Rock have shared the details of their forthcoming memoir, revealing the book will feature contributions from Amy Poehler, Colson Whitehead, Spike Jonze, Wes Anderson and more. According to the Beastie Boys’ website, the memoir will document the group’s unlikely path to hip hop success, from their beginnings in 1981 to the release (and messy fallout) of debut album Licensed to III through to their “rebirth as musicians and social activists.”

The memoir, however, isn’t your typical band biography. Instead, Beastie Boys Book supports the usual narrative with rare photographs, original illustrations, a cookbook from chef Roy Choi, a graphic novel, a map of Beastie Boys’ New York, mixtape playlists and more – no wonder it’s almost 600 pages.

Beastie Boys Book will be released on Tuesday October 30. You can pre-order it now from the band’s website here
