Having kept us waiting since his last single, the follow-up is all we could have hoped for and more. ‘Petals’ features delicately crooned vocals from Adam Tucker of Perth-based band Scenic and demonstrates a move away from Basenji’s customary percussion heavy, kawaii style gems.
‘Petals’ is a fine taster of what’s to come from the EP and with an evolution in his trademark sound it’s still everyone’s guess if the infamous bark sample is yet to make a comeback.
The single also comes perfectly timed to get the masses hyped for Basenji’s string of shows as the main support for Hermitude’s Dark Night Sweet Light album tour this month, which has sold out venues across the country.
