The iconic touchpad effect processor returns as the Kaoss Pad V, featuring expanded effects, integrated audio interface, and modern connectivity for vocalists, guitarists and producers.

Korg has brought back the Kaoss Pad, and it’s had a big overhaul. Available now with stock arriving mid-March, the Kaoss Pad V reimagines the classic touchpad controller with dual-touch operation, an advanced Voice FX engine, and connectivity designed for modern studios and stages.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

For anyone unfamiliar with the original, the Kaoss Pad made its name by turning real-time effect control into something you could perform rather than just tweak. This latest version expands on that concept with dual-touch control, letting you manipulate two parameters simultaneously. Move one finger to adjust a filter while the other controls delay feedback, or shape pitch alongside reverb depth—any combination the program allows. It’s designed to create evolving textures that respond to your gestures rather than forcing you to dive into preset menus.

Korg has loaded the Kaoss Pad V with 300 programs (200 presets and 100 user slots) covering classic Kaoss effects alongside new options tailored for contemporary production. You can edit programs and save your own presets directly on the unit, which addresses a long-standing limitation of earlier models.

Vocalists get significant attention with the new Voice FX engine. Beyond standard effects, you can add harmonies, vocoder layers, pitch-morphed tones, and other vocal textures in real time. There’s also the ability to control external MIDI gear using your voice, opening up some interesting performance possibilities if you’re into experimental setups or live looping.

Guitarists and bassists benefit from a dedicated Hi-Z input, meaning you can plug straight in without needing a DI box or preamp. Combined with the sampling and looping capabilities—up to 8 bars depending on tempo—you can capture ideas on the fly, overdub layers, and use BPM-synced Step Hold to stay locked to the groove. Multiple playback and slicing modes allow for creative rearrangement of your loops.

Connectivity is where the Kaoss Pad V distinguishes itself from its predecessors. It functions as an integrated USB audio interface, and you can use the MIC, LINE, and USB inputs simultaneously. This means blending vocals, instruments, and computer audio in a single setup without external mixers or routers. A balanced mic preamp handles vocal input cleanly, while the Hi-Z jack accommodates instruments directly.

Storage expands via SD and SDHC cards up to 32GB, giving you plenty of room for samples and user presets. Whether you’re using it for live performance, studio production, or streaming, the Kaoss Pad V slots into modern setups without requiring workarounds.
