Kim Gordon is no stranger to the pages of Mixdown, having cut her teeth in Sonic Youth, as well as touring Australia and abroad as a solo artist, most recently at 2022’s Dark Mofo festival in Hobart. Kim Gordon and her artistic expression reaches beyond music, also offering visual art.

In addition to the new single, Kim’s art exhibition Object Of Projection and Proposal For A Dance will also be showcased at ΩHM 2024, Brisbane Powerhouses Festival of Other Music.

Exhibition dates:

Object Of Projection: During opening hours, 28 Feb – 21 Apr (Free Entry)

Proposal For A Dance: 5pm, Sat 9 Mar 2024 | Powerhouse Theatre (Free Entry)

A video for “BYE BYE” stars Coco Gordon Moore and was directed by photographer and filmmaker Clara Balzary, with cinematography by Christopher Blauvelt.

Recorded in Gordon’s native Los Angeles, The Collective follows her 2019 full-length debut No Home Record and continues her collaboration with producer Justin Raisen (Lil Yachty, John Cale, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Charli XCX, Yves Tumor), with additional production from Anthony Paul Lopez. The album advances their joint world building, with Raisin’s damaged, blown out dub and trap constructions playing the foil to Gordon’s intuitive word collages and hooky mantras, which conjure communication, commercial sublimation and sensory overload.
