Having debuted in 1984, this year marks the 40th anniversary of legendary band The Cult, with guitar icons Gretsch teaming up with guitarist Billy Duffy to create the Limited Edition G8424TG Billy Duffy Signature Falcon.

Dubbed “8424” with “84” denoting their debut year and “24” marking their 40th Anniversary The Cult burst onto England’s post-punk scene in the early 80’s. Featuring the incendiary riffs of guitarist Billy Duffy, the band blended elements of psychedelia, goth, and hard rock, to create the hard-hitting sound that would become their signature. Nearly half a century on, the band is stronger than ever, bringing their electrifying live shows to ever-growing legions of fans worldwide.
To commemorate this incredible milestone, Gretsch is proud to partner with Billy to release the Limited Edition G8424TG Billy Duffy Signature Falcon. Inspired by Billy’s original ‘Sanctuary’ Falcon, the G8424TG features a Vintage White nitrocellulose lacquer finish with gold sparkle binding and gold hardware, Billy’s custom-wound Black Top™ Filter’Tron™ pickups, and a commemorative “8424” metal truss rod cover. As a special bonus, each guitar with be hand-signed by Billy, and will include a commemorative hardshell case and commemorative case candy items that are exclusive to this model.
This meticulously crafted piece is loaded with Custom Wound Black Top™ Filter’Tron™ Pickups, featuring Alinco 5 magnets. The custom-wound Billy Duffy Black Top™ Filter-Tron™ pickups give you the power and versatility needed to pump out huge riffs, soaring chord progressions, and blistering leads. The neck pickup has a more traditional Filter’Tron voice, providing a warm balanced sound that still retains excellent chime and clarity, while the hot overwound bridge pickup delivers sparkling highs, full lows, and the midrange punch essential to replicating Billy’s signature sound.
With individual pickup volume controls, a master volume, three-position tone switch, and three-position pickup selector switch, a wide variety of sounds can be dialled in, making this versatile guitar capable of covering a wide range of different styles and sounds. Also featuring a 17″ wide, 2.75″-deep maple body with parallel tone bars, standard “U”-shaped maple neck with 25.5″ scale length, 12″radius ebony fingerboard and 22 vintage small frets with zero fret, pearloid wide block inlays this guitar is something special.
