The film stars Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen during a pivotal moment in his career—a young musician on the cusp of global superstardom, grappling with the pressures of success and the ghosts of his past.
Recorded in his New Jersey bedroom on a 4-track recorder with a late-1950s Gibson SJ-200, Nebraska marked a stark departure from his earlier work, swapping his classic anthems for raw, stripped-back acoustic tracks. Nebraska remains one of his most influential releases.
Gibson’s acoustic luthiers in Bozeman, Montana worked closely with the production team, including producer Dave Cobb and composer Jeremiah Fraites of The Lumineers, to recreate the instruments and tones from that era. Fraites, whose New Jersey roots and deep connection to Springsteen’s work made him a natural fit, created the film’s original score. Multiple Gibson and Epiphone acoustics were used throughout filming and recording to match the original signal chains and capture the sound of that period.
The Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere Collection is now available, featuring both Gibson and Epiphone models that appeared in or were inspired by the film. Select guitars used in the film are currently on display at the Gibson Garage in Nashville.
