Gibson have unveiled a limited run of Les Paul Standard Double Trouble models, combining the timeless appeal of their flagship Standard series with a few vintage-inspired twists. Uncovered Burstbuckers with Double White Bobbins

The big change lies in the pickups. While the Standard series usually keeps its Burstbuckers covered, the Double Trouble models proudly show them off. Depending on the era you choose, the ’50s spec comes loaded with Burstbucker™ 1 and 2 pickups with Alnico 2 magnets, while the ’60s spec boasts Burstbucker™ 61R and 61T pickups with Alnico 5s. All feature striking Double Classic White bobbins, handcrafted in the Gibson Pickup Shop and wired with audio taper pots and Orange Drop® capacitors. The result? Classic Gibson tone with a bold, vintage edge.

Vintage-Inspired Nitro Finishes

The other standout feature is the finish. Rather than the pristine gloss of a brand-new Standard, the Double Trouble models wear subtly faded nitrocellulose lacquer for a lived-in feel. Each guitar is individually hand-sprayed, meaning the burst pattern varies slightly, echoing the natural aging seen on vintage instruments. It’s a small detail, but one that makes every piece feel unique.

Underneath these cosmetic upgrades, it’s still every bit a Les Paul Standard: a solid, non-weight-relieved mahogany body, AA figured maple top, classic set neck construction and that unmistakable Gibson sustain.

With only 500 guitars produced worldwide in each finish, the Les Paul Standard Double Trouble balances collector appeal with everyday playability. Elegant, vintage-leaning, and unapologetically Gibson, this limited run is sure to fly once it lands.
