The EB-0 is a popular design from Gibson, Gene’s specifically being a heavily modified 1959 model with a short scale, the first 30.5” produced from the custom shop, VOS (Vintage Original Spec) finish in Ebony, with the same VOS finish on the hardware, including the bridge cover; a very 70s appointment.
Gene’s EB-0 was refinished, the neck reshaped, updating the pickup as well as a custom pickguard, Corian nut and Hi-Mass bridge that allowed either top-loaded or through-body stringing, all of this being available in the Gene Simmons EB-0 Bass. The bass pays homage to one of the unsung heroes of the bass world, an instrument that helped inform and shape KISS’s sound at a pivotal time, and in turn inspired countless legions of bass players in The Kiss Army.
