It will help you learn to work in a modular fashion as part of a larger system of synths, or the Erica works equally well as a standalone unit.

The Bullfrog was created in conjunction with electronic musicians British-Canadian electronic musician and DJ, Richie Hawtin. Hawtin has been involved in pushing the envelope for minimal techno, having been introduced to electronic music at a young age by his father, who showed him the likes of Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream.
“The Bullfrog is a synthesizer dreamed up by Erica Synths and I to inspire and welcome a younger audience into the world of electronic music. Although first considered for someone’s first steps into synthesis the final robust design will also fit comfortably into anyone’s studio and/or performance setup. I can’t wait to see where the Bullfrog leads a curious new generation.”
The Bullfrog is simply laid out, with a VCO (voltage controlled oscillator), noise generator and mixer, and two looping envelope generators, all simply laid out for an intuitive workflow. Once you’ve mastered the basic layout, the Bullfrog’s functionality can be expanded via a VOICECARD, offering more sounds, options and flexibility, as well as three VOICECARDs being included with the Bullfrog for your own DIY sounds. The Bullfrog comes with everything you’ll need to start making sounds, including VOICECARDs, power and patch cables. The Bullfrog has an Audio Out and Phones Out, as well as MIDI connectivity available via either USB-C or 5-pin MIDI in. There’s CV in and a Gate In, and remember—if none of these terms are making sense, the Bullfrog might be for you!
