The compact hardware controller provides tactile, hands-on access to Control | Pack routing presets for DAD's flagship audio interfaces.

Digital Audio Denmark has announced Junior, a compact hardware controller designed for the brand’s Thunder | Core series of audio interfaces. The customisable physical control surface provides seamless, real-time operation of pre-configured Control | Pack settings, adding a tactile layer of control to what are already some of the most respected converters in professional audio.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

Control | Pack functionality within DAD’s DADman software allows native switching between any set of sources and output destinations, adding an extra layer of playback redundancy and show control to Thunder | Core products. Junior brings that power into the physical realm with customisable RGB LED-illuminated buttons, status LEDs, and character display, putting critical routing controls right under your hands.

“Fast and reliable control of audio production equipment is essential to the live entertainment market—a key demographic of our Thunder | Core user base,” says Mikael Vest, COO of Digital Audio Denmark. “With Junior, users can now directly access Control | Pack settings with a hands-on interface, providing additional speed and control for critical situations.”

Live sound engineers and broadcast engineers know the pressure of needing routing changes to be immediate, not after navigating software menus mid-show. Junior solves that problem by offering direct, physical access to routing presets and bucket switching. When timing is impor, tant and there’s no room for mistakes, having that kind of instant control can make a whole lot of difference.

The connection is straightforward: Junior links to any Thunder | Core device via Ethernet and can be powered through PoE or an external power supply, adapting to different installation needs. The unit packs six RGB LED-illuminated buttons, six RGB status LEDs, and six character displays into its compact footprint. Four buttons handle switching between Control Pack buckets, with corresponding LEDs and displays showing status and names. Two more buttons manage lock functionality, the engineering menu, and routing preset selection. Its compatibility requirements are DADman version 5.8 and Thunder | Core firmware version 1.1.0.3 or later, making it aligned with current systems.

Digital Audio Denmark has earned its reputation through converters that prioritise sonic performance above all else. Junior carries that same philosophy forward, making the Thunder | Core series faster and more intuitive to operate when precision and split-second decisions are part of the job. For anyone working in demanding live or broadcast environments, it’s the kind of tool that earns its place in the rack quickly.
