The MM Debut Bass 25 brings the touring bassist's personal style to Blackstar's popular practice platform.
Bass players looking for a practice amp with professional pedigree now have a compelling new option. Blackstar Amplification has launched the MM Debut Bass 25, a signature edition developed with Marco Mendoza that combines the company’s well-regarded Debut Bass platform with styling inspired by the veteran bassist’s career.
Mendoza’s CV speaks for itself. Stints with Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, The Dead Daisies, and SATCHVAI have established him as a player known for versatility and stage presence. Blackstar says he’s been using the Debut Bass 25 since the prototype stage, making it his preferred choice for backstage warmups and home practice sessions.

“The MM Debut Bass 25 is everything a bass player needs to enjoy playing every day—it’s simple, inspiring and sounds incredible,” Mendoza says.
The signature model retains the analogue architecture that’s made the Debut Bass series popular across skill levels. Players get Clean and Drive channels covering the spectrum from warm, rounded tones to grittier rock textures, plus a three-band EQ for quick tonal adjustments. It’s the kind of straightforward approach that prioritises playing over parameter tweaking.
Visual touches distinguish this version from the standard model. Mendoza’s distinctive Bird logo features prominently on the panel, while bespoke tolex and custom fret cloth give the 25-watt combo a distinctive appearance without straying from Blackstar’s design philosophy of simplicity and reliability.

Practical features round out the package. Line In connectivity allows players to jam along with backing tracks or reference material, while the Line Out enables headphone practice for late-night sessions or hotel room warmups. The compact, rugged construction comes from Blackstar’s UK R&D team, the same engineers responsible for the company’s Unity Elite bass amplifier range.
Measuring up as a genuine practice tool rather than just a bedroom novelty, the MM Debut Bass 25 occupies that sweet spot between portability and functionality. Whether it’s for daily practice routines, backstage preparation, or studio tracking, the amp delivers analogue tone in a format that doesn’t require compromise.
The MM Debut Bass 25 is currently shipping globally and will be available through authorised Blackstar dealers from March 2026.
