The release also continues Avid’s development of MIDI and instrument workflows. MIDI plugin partners 510k and BLEASS have been added to the growing collection of included MIDI Effect plugins. In addition, MIDI playlists, clip drag-and-drop to virtual instruments, and several other MIDI workflow improvements have been introduced.
“Avid is thrilled to work with industry leaders Native Instruments and Steinberg along with MIDI Plugin partners 510k and BLEASS to include best-in-class production tools. Our goal is for customers to have an efficient and fun experience that allows them to stay in a creative mindset,” says Rob D’Amico, Senior Director of Pro Tools Product Management at Avid. “We do this by remaining committed to strengthening and building new strategic partnerships, integrating technologies into our products, and fostering a strong developer community.”
Steinberg
Avid continues to expand its ARA 2 integration with support for Steinberg’s SpectraLayers and WaveLab plugins. ARA integration allows these tools to be accessed directly within Pro Tools, eliminating the need for roundtripping audio for a more fluid creative process.
- SpectraLayers Go redefines audio workflows with capabilities spanning repair, restoration, and innovative sound design. Studios can visualize audio in a hyper-detailed spectrogram, exploring layer-based editing, and AI-assisted vocal extraction
- WaveLab Go provides real-time visualisation and analysis tools with unparalleled precision and intuitive audio editing, essential for high-quality mastering and music production.
Customers with active Pro Tools subscriptions or perpetual upgrade plans will automatically receive SpectraLayers Go and WaveLab Go as part of this release.
Native Instruments
Avid has also partnered with Native Instruments to integrate its Kontakt 8 Player across all offerings, recognising its ubiquity among music producers. The release includes:
- Kontakt 8 Player: the latest release of Native Instruments’ virtual instrument platform that adds features like wavetable synthesis, integrated MIDI tools, and Leap – a new way to play and manipulate loops and samples.
- Pro Tools Instruments: Native Instruments Hybrid Keys, which blends sampled pianos, synthesizers, mallets, and more – and Soul Sessions, which includes keys, live guitar, bass, sax, trumpets, and vintage synths inspired by the evolution of soul music
- New Pro Tools | Sonic Drops of new Kontakt instruments released periodically as part of this sounds rewards program for Pro Tools customers
- The collaboration introduces a wealth of new sounds and instruments and marks the beginning of a key partnership that will provide a great music production experience in Pro Tools.
All Pro Tools offerings will include Kontakt 8 Player and the Pro Tools Factory Essentials instrument library. Active subscribers and perpetual upgrade plan holders will receive additional instruments depending on their tier.
Pro Tools 2024.10 introduces powerful MIDI plugins from 510k and BLEASS as well as several convenient improvements to workflows that utilise clips and MIDI. They include:
- SEQUND Lite by 510k: An intuitive sequencer that allows users to easily generate complex polyrhythms with presets containing up to 12 patterns, recallable instantly via MIDI notes
- BLEASS Arpeggiator: Developed by BLEASS and top music producer Canblaster, the BLEASS Arpeggiator MIDI effect plugin extends beyond traditional up-and-down monophonic patterns, offering polyrhythms and polyphony and a large collection of highly configurable patterns
- MIDI Playlists: Allows users to easily record multiple MIDI takes, then effortlessly compare and edit them into one desired result
- Drag-and-Drop Clips: Users can now drag-and-drop mono and stereo clips directly from the Pro Tools timeline, clip list or workspace into a sampler or drum sequencer plugin
