Audio-Technica’s ATH-50x are one of the most popular headphone models out there. The combination of quality sound and reasonable pricing makes them a surefire winner.

It was no surprise that their wireless Bluetooth version would also be as popular and today, they have announced a new iteration of the headphone, adding modern connections and functionality to the classic quality sounding studio headphone.

For those uninitiated with the M50x’s they feature proprietary 45mm large-aperture drivers, fold flat design, 90 degree swivelling ear cups and premium audio components including an advanced audio DAC and a dedicated internal headphone amp.

The ATH-M50xBT2 adds dual-microphone beamforming technology, pioneered by the Apple AirPods, for cleaner phone conversations on the go. In other hardware improvements is a USB-C connection and larger battery capacity, which allows the headphones to be used for 50 hours continuously on a single charge which is incredible.

Bluetooth connectivity has improved with multipoint pairing available which can connect to multiple devices at once alongside a low-latency mode, which syncs better with movies/tv/games.

This low-latency mode plus EQ, L/R volume balance, choice of voice assistant, misplaced headphone location and change of codecs is changeable via the A-T Connect app which saves the selection inside the headphone itself.

ATH-M50x-BT2 feature built-in buttons on the left earcup which allow for quick access to volume, mute and voice assistant controls, nice for on the go.
