Audio-Technica announce customer-designed headphones, the ATH-M50x LAB

Audio-Technica ATH-M50x LAB

Audio-Technica was founded in 1962 with the mission of producing high-quality audio for everyone.

Audio-Technica announces the grand debut of the ATH-M50x LAB – a fan-created limited edition design of the highly esteemed all-time-favourite ATH-M50x and ATH M50xBT2 headphones. The ATH-M50x LAB comes in a multicoloured look resulting from the audience entry that won this year’s colour lab competition by popular vote. Both, the wired ($319) and Bluetooth ($ 379) versions are available in stores and online now. After over a decade of limited-edition colour models of the ATH-M50x, Audio-Technica has let fans custom design the 2024 colour. People could use the interactive “LAB M50x” experience website to select colours for the four main headphone components. From a staggering 15,000 submissions, a panel of specialists, including the product manager of the ATH-M50x, selected three remarkable finalists. The last say lay with the public, who voted for their preferred rendition.

The winning design, a captivating fusion of blue, orange, and grey, is the brainchild of Brazilian DJ Sergio Gamarra. Sergio shared his thoughtful approach when selecting the colours: “Blue represents confidence, reflecting the quality and reliability of the M50x headset. Orange evokes energy and creativity, highlighting the excitement of the music in us. Finally, grey adds a sense of sophistication and elegance, balancing the colour palette and adding a touch of modernity.”

Audio-Technica was founded in 1962 with the mission of producing high-quality audio for everyone. As they have grown to design critically acclaimed headphones, turntables and microphones, they’ve retained the belief that great audio should not be enjoyed only by the select few, but accessible to all. Building upon a analogue heritage, they work to expand the limits of audio technology, pursuing an ever-changing purity of sound that creates connections and enriches lives.
