Gear Rundown: St. Vincent

Fender Thurston Moore Jazzmaster

On her most recent, self-titled album, Clark recorded with a Fender Thurston Moore Jazzmaster, making use of its simplicity – it only has a volume knob – and bright tone.

Ernie Ball Music Man Albert Lee HH

Before Clark got her own signature model, she would wield an Ernie Ball Music Man Albert Lee HH for live performances, regularly used when touring her St. Vincent album

Ernie Ball Music Man St. Vincent Signature

This stellar guitar was made by Ernie Ball, inspired by Clarke’s enigmatic technique, colourful style and performative presence. She showed it off live a few times last year, rocking it with a formidable black finish. And, as of March 2016, the guitar is now out on the market, also in a custom Vincent Blue.

Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Nickel Wound

There’s no denying Clark’s love of Ernie Ball, and it only makes sense to have her Signature guitar kitted out iwth these strings. Regular Slinky strings are precision manufactured to the highest standards and most exacting specifications to ensure consistency, optimum performance, and long life.

Kemper Profiler Rack Guitar Amp System

Following the release of St. Vincent, Clark was using a Kemper amp for live performances. With the entirety of her effects programmed for each show, reliability and consistency from her amp are both paramount.

Eventide H9 Max Multi-Effects Pedal

Two of these babies can be found on Clark’s pedalboard. With every Eventide effect at her disposal she programs synth sounds, tremolos, delays and reverbs.

Bixonic Expandora EXP-2000R Distortion Pedal

In her song ‘Regret’, taken from St. Vincent, Clark uses this reissue to produce some scintillating distortion. The particular pedal she used in the studio was John Congleton’s, later buying her own.

Electro-Harmonix Micro Synthesizer

This is what gives Clark such amazing sustain in St. Vincent. It’s being used in the solo for “Rattlesnake’ to great effect.
