The thirteen-lens tool measures a mix in real time without touching the audio, and stays true to the developer's open-source model
OVNI Audio has released Telescope 0.1.0, a free audio analyser plugin distributed as open-source software under the GNU AGPLv3 licence. It’s the latest addition to the developer’s growing catalogue, which spans spatial effects designed to move and open up sound, a visual synth called Supernova that turns audio into image, and now Telescope, an analyser built to measure a mix and report back on what it finds.

Telescope runs thirteen analysis modes off a single engine, covering loudness metering to ITU-R BS.1770 with LRA and true peak, dynamics, spectrum, spectrogram and waterfall views, constant-Q analysis with a confidence-rated key estimate, stereo scope and per-band correlation, energy distribution by pan direction, and tonal balance measured against a reference track.
The thirteenth mode, Verdict, applies 21 deterministic rules to a per-second history of the mix and generates a written report on what’s sitting within range, how it’s likely to translate across systems, and what might need addressing — with the measured figure and the relevant rule listed alongside each finding. Notably, there’s no AI model, network connection or telemetry involved in any of it.
Crucially, Telescope doesn’t touch the audio signal itself, running at zero samples of latency with a bit-exact pass-through.
The plugin is available as a universal VST3 and AU for macOS 11 and later, packaged in a single installer signed and notarised by Apple, and as an unsigned VST3 ZIP for Windows 10 and later (x64). OVNI Audio has confirmed the code, along with the installers for Orbit, Supernova and Telescope, will remain free indefinitely, though future products may carry a price tag.
