The free plugin adds slow, repeatable micro-variations in level, pan and MIDI, locked to the timeline so a bounce matches playback.

FKFX Audio has released NanoMix, a free humaniser plugin built to take the stiffness out of static tracks by adding tiny, slow movements in level, pan and MIDI.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

A controlled Chaos engine generates smooth, semi-random variations in volume, pan, and MIDI output, with the movement visible on screen in real time so you can see how it’s behaving. Despite the name, the chaos isn’t unstable – the movement locks to the host timeline and repeats the same way at the same point in the project every time, unless you change the seed, so a bounce comes out exactly as it played back. It suits vocals, synths, pads, drums, loops and background elements, or MIDI instruments where a little variation in level, pan or note values stops a part feeling fixed in place. When used subtly, it works as mix animation, but you can push it harder for more obvious modulation.

Separate LEVEL, PAN and MIDI sections each get their own amount and speed, a seed control swaps between movement patterns, and a dB readout shows the level variation as it happens. NanoMix runs as VST3, AU and a legacy VST for MIDI on macOS and Windows, and the KVRDC26 edition is free forever with no account, licence or online activation to deal with.

The plugin is FKFX’s entry in the 2026 KVR Developer Challenge, where it’s up for public votes alongside the rest of the field.
