Reportedly a pop melodrama, the film will star Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel as a fictional musician (Hathaway) and a famous fashion designer (Coel), and follow a complicated relationship between the two. Mother Mary will also feature an original score composed by Daniel Hart.
This isn’t Charli XCX’s first foray into the world of A24 soundtracks, with her single “Hot Girl,” which she wrote with now partner George Daniel of the 1975, having appeared in the 2022 Gen Z centric whodunnit Bodies Bodies Bodies.
“Jack bout to get mothered,” Charli wrote in the instagram caption of a photo of the two.

A significant number of A24’s upcoming projects are also set to involve musicians.
Jane Schoenbrun’s sophomore horror I Saw the TV Glow will feature Phoebe Bridgers, Lindsey Jordan of Snail Mail as well as Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst.
The Eggers Brothers’ upcoming psychological horror The Front Room will also star Brandy, and Kid Cudi appeared in Ti West’s hugely popular grind house homage X.
A24 have also captured crate digger crowds, renowned for releasing many of their films’ recent soundtracks and scores on vinyl.
Jack Antonoff has been the pop producer to beat over the past few years, most recently taking home the Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, award at the 2023 Grammys. “A&W,” his most recent in a slew of collaborations with Lana Del Rey, was released on Valentine’s Day.
