Gibson studied the original model favoured by the Mott the Hoople and Bad Company guitarist – serial #8 7049 – to ensure the replica was as faithful to the original as possible. Months of work resulted in a limited run of the 1958 Les Paul Standard Replica, featuring hand-selected woods, mapped wear and checking patterns, historic hide-glue construction and a host of vintage materials.
The guitar is designed with a mahogany body and two-piece maple top, with a solid mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. Featuring a sunburst finish dubbed ‘Ralphs Burst’, the model continues to remain true to its predecessor with replica appointments and a matching set of Alnico III Custombuckers.
