Got any plans to ring in the new decade this January? Cancel 'em - there's another New Years Day festival contender on the block, and it's got an absolute boomer of a lineup to boot.
Sun Cycle, the latest event to take over Melbourne's hallowed Coburg Velodrome, has collated some of the best in the game to help kick off its inaugural event this January, filling the void left by the likes of Freedom Time and The First NYD for punters who aren't organised enough to leave the city for New Years.
The festival is set to be headlined by none other than Mr. Freddie Gibbs, Indiana's man of the minute and a current frontrunner for hip-hop album of the year due to his work with super-producer Madlib on Bandana. He'll be joined by the dynamic electronic duo of Swedish legend DJ Seinfeld and future-garage braniac Floating Points, who'll be performing an immense live set with an array of modular synths and drum machines.
On the local front, CC:Disco will be closing the day with a bumper set of party classics, while Sampa The Great will cap off a hell of a year in support of her hotly anticipated debut The Return. The festival is also set to see appearances from both local and international doof and neo-soul mainstays, including Jayda G, Elle Shimada Collective, DJ JNETT and 6AM At The Garage.
Check out the full lineup below. Tickets for this one go on sale this Friday at 12pm - don't sleep on this one.
