Emulating the classic large format Cali76 compressor, the Cali76-TX and TX-L pedals also add in different transformers to the original design for a distinct tonal response. The TX boasts a custom transformer with an iron core, providing more harmonic overtones and lighter saturation when playing at louder volumes. On the other hand, the TX-L is built with a Lundahl transformer, which Origin Effects claim provides more transparency at the low end and a flat phase response.
With controls for Attack, Release, Ratio, Output and Input/Compression, the Cali76-TX also features dedicated Amplifier and Line/DI outputs, the latter being fully balanced and electronically isolated for premium sound quality whether being used in the studio or onstage. There’s also a Ground Lift function to amend any hums caused by pesky ground-loop interactions, while High and Low Gain modes let you zone in on your tone to achieve the finest compressed tones in the land.
