Twenty One Pilots have just achieved the monumental feat of seeing every song on their 2015 album Blurryface certified gold – and they’re the first band in the digital era to do so.
All 14 tracks on the album have now achieved gold status, the recognition given to songs which reach 500,000 sales. Following a change by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2013 which allowed digital streams to be included in the sales ranking, Twenty One Pilots are now widely believed to be the first band ever to have every song on their album certified gold.
“Congratulations to Twenty One Pilots for this unparalleled achievement,” said Cary Sherman, Chairman and CEO of the RIAA. “From the first track to the 14th, each and every song from Blurryface has resonated with fans. In a time when fans enjoy instant access to millions of different tracks, this is a testament to the appeal of both the album and each of its individual songs.”
