NAMM 2019: Fender brings modern designs to iconic models in Alternate Reality series

Set to be released as a limited run, the Alternate Reality models offer eclectic designs achieved by moulding elements from classic Fender models into one unique guitar. As Fender describes it, these new models see the company move forward with “one foot in the past and eyes to the future.”

The five models will be released over a six-month period. Get to know each one below:

POWERCASTER

Launcing March 2019

A roasted maple neck and sweeping pickguard give this entry a unique visual flair, while an Atomic humbucking pickup is on hand to give you tone that extra edge you’re aiming for. It’s an ideal choice for cutting through a dense mix.

Finish options: Three-Tone Sunburst, Surf Green (pictured), White Opal

SIXTY-SIX

Launching April 2019

Making a bold statement with a down-sized Jazz Bass body, the Sixty-Six features a flexible HSS pickup, vintage-inspired appointments, and a host of features designed especially with the player in mind.

Finish options: Three-Tone Sunburst, Daphne Blue (pictured), Natural

THE METEORA HH

Launching May 2019

While you may recognise the name from Fender’s Parallel Universe series, the Alternate Reality Meteora HH is a talking point in its own right. It features a retro-modern offset body shape, two Player Series humbucking pickups, and generates a seriously powerful sound.

Finish options: Candy Apple Red (pictured), Lake Placid Blue, Surf Green

ELECTRIC XII

Launching July 2019

Perfect for the performers, the Electric XII boasts dual split-coil pickups, a 12-string hardtail bridge, and a three-position pickup selector.

Finish options: Three-Colour Sunburst (pictured), Lake Placid Blue, Olympic White

TENOR TELE

Launching August 2019

Fender has taken a modern approach to the four-string tenor guitar with the Tenor Tele, offering a huge sound in a comparatively small guitar.

Finish options: Butterscotch Blonde, Fiesta Red, Lake Placid Blue (pictured)
