Gibson has today announced an incredibly lavish Custom Shop EDS-1275 Doubleneck based on Guns 'N Roses shredder Slash's own model - with a pricetag that'll make you cry.
Finished in Aged Ebony and limited to only 125 units worldwide, this definitely isn't an axe for the average guitarist - but then again, Slash isn't the average guitarist. The Custom Shop Slash 1066 EDS-1275 replicates the Guns 'N Roses icon's own model down to a T, even going the distance to include the buckle rash and headstock repair of the original model Mr. Hudson frequented in the late '80s and early '90s.
This double necked monster features a hefty mahogany body with a set neck construction, while both necks (one with six strings, the other with twelve) feature a period-correct 1966 medium-C profile. You'll find split parallelogram inlays adorning both fretboards - which are crafted from deluxe Indian rosewood - as well as black top hat tone and volume knobs, a decision which probably has nothing to do with Slash's own penchant for top hats, no matter how hard we'd like to think otherwise. There's also quadruple Custombucker Alnico III humbuckers resting in the neck and bridge positions of the instrument, while each model is handsigned and numbered by Slash himself.
Obviously, this is a high-end guitar for only the staunchest of Gibson or Slash fanatics, and with only 125 models being made, we're sure that they'll be more likely to be hung on walls than seen at gigs in the wild. Still pretty cool though, right?
