Words by Will Brewster

Available in two different body sizes.

As part of the new Streamliner range, Gretsch have introduced two new hollow body models loaded with P90 pickups and kitted out in eye-catching finishes.

First unleashed in the lead up to NAMM back in January, the new guitars are available in two different sizes – the big-bodied G2622, and the smaller-sized G2655 – with a range of Bigsby-fitted and stoptail bridge variants available.

Kicking off with the big boys, the Gretsch G2622 features a mahogany neck with 12″ radius laurel fretboard joined to a chambered mahogany body with a chambered spruce centre block, increasing sustain and helping to minimise pesky feedback.

Enlarged F-holes add a nice aesthetic touch, while a pair of Fideli’Sonic P90 pickups are wired to neck and bridge volume, master tone and master volume control knobs, while a three-way toggle switch allows you to select between pickup positions.

The B70 Bigsby-equipped G2622 P90 model is available in either Brownstone, Gunmetal or Forge Glow finishes, while the stoptail version can be picked up in Havana Burst or Claret Burst.

For something a little more compact, the Gretsch G2655 offers players with a 14″ chambered mahogany body and a spruce centre block, while a mahogany neck with laurel fretboard completes the bill.

Again, this one is adorned with oversized F-holes and a pair of Fideli’Sonic P90 pickups, and features a similar control setup to its larger brethren.

Bigsby fans can pick up a G2655 in Two-Tone Midnight Sapphire and Vintage Mahogany Stain, Two-Tone Mint Metallic and Vintage Mahogany Stain or Two-Tone Sahara Metallic and Vintage Mahogany Stain, while Brownstone or Claret Burst finishes are available on the stoptail models.
