The record I recommend for Record Store Day 2018 is: The Neil Young Live At The Roxy LP.
Because: It was recorded just after Neil Young had recorded, but hadn’t yet released his brilliant Tonight’s The Night LP. At that time, Neil had just become a mega star with ‘Harvest’ topping charts around the world, yet after the deaths of guitarist Danny Whitten and roadie Bruce Berry, Neil headed for the darkness and the ditch, and turned his back on fame. When he toured, the public expected a laid back hippie, but got some of the dirtiest, doom-riddled, out-of-it rock ‘n roll ever. He played songs nobody had heard before. The live tapes have never been released, so this LP should be amazing.
