THE WORLD’S FIRST CANDLE-POWERED EFFECTS PEDAL

After getting quite hot, two solar cells are illuminated by the candle and produce 9 volts at 0.33mA. Additionally, the candle powers the Stirling Engine by heating a glass bulb that spins the optical disk round and round. The speed of the flywheel is then controlled by an adjustable, swinging magnet. The Vibrophase effect is located in a black tube on the device. Light from the candle passes through the optical disk and shines onto the circuits photocells, regulating the vibrato/phaser circuit.

As well as being an extremely rare piece of equipment, the Candela is the ultimate energy saving device. It can burn for 4-5 hours for around 8.3 cents per unit. “So over the course of 37 years, if you play for 10 hours a day, your Candela VibroPhase will pay for itself in battery savings alone”.
