WATCH: Led Zeppelin perform ‘Immigrant Song’ in Sydney

Having released the epic Led Zeppelin IV mere months before, featuring the likes of ‘Stairway to Heaven,’ ‘Black Dog’ and ‘When The Levee Breaks,’ it’s fair to say that the band were at the absolute height of their powers when they visited Australia in 1972. 

 

While the band also performed in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, the legendary foursome’s Sydney performance is one which tends to be cited as being a major moment in Australia’s music history, with more than 25,000 punters flocking to the Sydney Showgrounds to witness the group play a blistering set.

 

According to setlists archived on Led Zep’s website, the band opened with an extended rendition of the Led Zeppelin III scorcher ‘Immigrant Song,’ featuring a classically indulgent guitar solo from the one and only Jimmy Page. Check out footage from the gig below:
