UK indie music conference Indie-Con will be coming to Australia for the first time next month. Formed to help independent artists who are self releasing their work as well as small record labels, the event will take place at Adelaide’s Tandanya Aboriginal Cultural Institute on Thursday July 27 and 28.
Featuring an opening keynote address from Sebastian Chase (MGM), other speakers including Portia Sabin (Kill Rock Stars/Future of What), Richard James Burgess (A2IM), Amy Dietz (InGrooves), as well as artists Jen Cloher and Briggs.
Conference Programmer Stu Watters said that Indie- Con Australia will feature panels, workshops and interviews, as well as being a networking opportunity for attendees. "One of the things that makes the independent sector truly appealing is that the business models are all quite diverse and they don't fit a mould, they are cutting their own track along the way and this conference is all about sharing those stories," said Watters.
