As the second entry in the TORAIZ line, and one of Pioneer’s first forays into the world of analogue synths, the AS-1 is fully programmable and compact. Under the hood it has the same analogue filters as the Prophet-6, with two voltage-controlled oscillators, two voltage controlled filters, a four-pole resonant low-pass filter and a two-pole resonant high-pass filter. You can save the parameter settings for each of these controls to instantly be recalled at another time, along with the 495 presets that are already loaded in.
Besides its 64-step sequencer and arpeggiator, the AS-1 offers many creative options for use in a live DJ setup. The MIDI in/outputs located on the synths back panel allows it to be connected to a sampler; specifically it will work with Pioneer’s TORAIZ SP-16, or CDJs via Pro DJ Link, allowing a range of possibilities for electronic producers.
