SUPRO UNVEILS NEW ISLAND AND AMERICANA SERIES

Supro 1.jpg

The Island Series are based on the 1962 version of the Supro Ozark, but with some key updates added. The instrument’s classic shape has been complimented with a new ergonomic set neck construction, and a 12″ radius with rolled fretboard edges.

The guitars will come with vintage Gold Foil pickups, which are single coil pickups with no pole pieces and an extra wide magnetic field. These pickups are replicas of the original Supro ‘Clear-tone’ pickups used during the 1950s and 60s and the guitars are available in single, double and triple pickup configurations.

Also announced is the Americana Series, which are based on the Supro ‘reso-glass’ semi-hollow guitars. These instruments are made with a chambered mahogany body and resonant moulded top, which manages to keep the sound of the vintage Supros while keeping the instruments lightweight and easy to play. All ten models come with ‘Vistatone’ pickups, which are reproductions of the single coil pickups developed by Valco in the early 1950s.
