Show & Tell: Bootleg Rascal

What piece of equipment do you have to show us today?

I have my left-handed Fender Telecaster. I have had it for almost four years now and it has been around the world a few times.

How did you come across this particular item?

I was living in Camden and I used to frequent the local music store. I didn’t have that much money and there was this left-handed guitar that no one wanted to buy. The longer it was in the shop, the more they kept discounting it to try and get rid of it. When the price was right, I swooped in and took it off their hands.

What is it that you like about it so much?

Watching some of the best guitarists in Australia pick it up and wig out hard, not being able to figure out which way to turn the knobs for the volume, haha.

How do you use it and how has it shaped the way you write music?

I had one guitar before this one and this one is definitely a step up, I also got the pick-ups changed by some professionals and it sounds great. It’s the first guitar that just had the perfect sound for me.

Tell us a bit about what you have coming up?

While we’re forced off the road, we’re doing a heap of writing and releasing new songs. We have a forthcoming staggered EP Collaborations of Very Isolated Delinquents “19, which we plan to release a song from each month from May through till September.

I just started a Twitch channel, where I’ve been producing music and letting people chat with me while I’m working away. I’ve also just started doing a podcast, which is in its early stages. So, even though we are not playing shows we are definitely keeping busy!

Bootleg Rascal’s new single ‘We Independent’ is out now.
