Run The Jewels release RTJ4 two days early amid US protests

Comprised of Southern trap pioneer Killer Mike and Brooklyn underground stalwart El-P, shared an impassioned joint statement discussing the early release of RTJ4 after a tense week of protesting in the United States.

“Fuck it, why wait?”, the duo questioned. “The world is infested with bullshit so here’s something raw to listen to while you deal with it all.

“We hope it brings you some joy. Stay safe and hopeful out there and thank you for giving 2 friends the chance to be heard and do what they love. With sincere love and gratitude, Jaime and Mike.”

RTJ4 features guest appearances from the likes of Rage Against The Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha, QOTSA’s Josh Homme, 2 Chainz, Pharrell, Mavis Staples, DJ Premier and more. Killer Mike, who hails from Atlanta, has been outspoken in his support for the Black Lives Matter protests of the past week, penning an op-ed advocating for black gun ownership and delivering an impassioned speech in a council meeting last Friday.

Run The Jewels have also shared a list of organisations on their website advocating for justice, equity and change in America, and are encouraging fans to donate to these causes in lieu of paying for the album. Head here to find out more.
