Bon Jovi, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, The Cars and Nina Simone will all be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, while Sister Rosetta Tharpe will also receive an award for her influence on the early stages of rock guitar playing.
Induction to the prestigious Hall of Fame is structured on the votes of 900 members, in addition to an aggregate of a fan polling system, which constitutes one additional vote. This year's fan polling saw Bon Jovi on top with 1.16 million votes, closely followed by The Moody Blues with 947,000. Dire Straits and The Cars came next with 613,000 and 552,000 respectively.
Fan favourites that didn't make the cut this year included Rage Against The Machine, Judas Priest, and Radiohead.
