BeatBuddy comes from the I Can’t Believe Nobody’s Done This Before files: it’s the first guitar pedal drum machine, giving you hands-free control of your beat while you’re rocking out. It was initially funded via an IndieGoGo campaign which reached $30,000 within the first 30 minutes and went on to be super mega successful. It’s now distributed in Australia by Innovative Music, and I couldn’t think of a better group of folks to bring this particular pedal to Aussie players.
ALESIS SAMPLE RACK DRUM MODULE
Many of you may be familiar with the Alesis Sample Pad, I have road-tested it before in the past and had a great deal of fun with it. Well, Alesis have now released the Sample Rack, essentially a rack mounted version of the Sample Pad, but without the pads. What you get in place of the four pads found on the Sample Pad is eight trigger inputs for use with any electronic drum kit or an acoustic kit fitted with drum triggers.

Everyone seems to be going looper mad at the moment. There is a huge range of pedals available to get your guitar and bass loops going on the fly in order to bring some added creativity to your gigs, but what about the singer? Why is it that guitarists seem to get all the cool toys to play with? That is exactly what the team at TC-Helicon were asking a while back, and now they have responded with the very slick and very cool Ditto Mic Looper. Now your vocals can become more than just the one.

Vocal effects and harmonies can really add to the professionalism of a live performance, but they’re hard to implement, especially for the singing guitarist. It’s difficult to get harmonies happening between band members sometimes: bad monitor mix, one or more vocalists having an off night – and that’s before you start to think about how this will all actually sound to the audience, which is the most important thing. TC-Helicon has tackled this problem head-on with the Play Electric, a floor-dwelling device aimed at giving the singing guitarist two things: interactive control over the creative execution of their vocals, and control over the quality of the final sound as heard by the audience.
