PreSonus release Studio One 4.5 update

Notably, PreSonus have somehow managed to decrease the CPU load for their native plug-ins in Multi-Instruments by a whopping 70%, while third-party plug-ins have been decreased around 50%. Version 4.5 also brings a new plug-in manager and streamlined routing: a tweak that’s sure to please VST hoarders.

There’s also a new Input Channel section in the Studio One mixer section, with software gain and polarity controls for each input to allow for the recording of hot signals at an easy-to-handle level. These channel sections are also user customisable.

PreSonus have also given the Note Actions menu a fresh makeover, adding new editing options such as Mirror and Randomize to help create happy little accidents in the studio. Arrangement, Audio and Music Editor have also received their own independent quantize grids, and PreSonus have even thrown a bone to their fervent users with the addition of a Chord Audition feature, seen below.

Elsewhere, PreSonus 4.5 can now export video with embedded mixdowns, mono, VBR MP3/AAC/ALAC and can also export I/O setups, perfect for punters using multiple interfaces or collaborating with other Studio One users. There’s also an Audio Batch Converter which lets you convert between multiple formats, apply VST effects and run eleven audio processes – there’s a whole lot to unpack here.
