A tribute concert to Australian guitar great Phil Emmanuel is set to go ahead next month, headed by the late musician's brother Tommy Emmanuel and several other esteemed Australian musicians.
Taking place at The Tivoli on Tuesday August 7, the memorial concert is set to be hosted by comedian Chris Franklin, and will feature the likes of Doug Parkinson, Doc Span, James Blundell and Phil Manning, as well as members of Air Supply, John Paul Young, Stevie Wright Band and Chain as well as Phil's daughter Jess. In addition to headlining the festivities, Tommy Emmanuel will also be assuming the role of drummer for The Fargone Beauties' reunion set.
Renowned for his playing with The Trailblazers, Slim Dusty, Ian Moss and as a duo with his brother Tommy, Phil Emmanuel sadly passed away in May this year at the age of 65. Along with his brother, Phil is considered to be one of the finest Australian guitarists of the 20th century, and is highly regarded for his virtuosic fingerstyle playing on both electric and acoustic guitars.
