The legendary singer/songwriter, poet and visual artist Patti Smith has announced a small string of sideshows leading up to Byron Bay's Bluesfest. Offering two intimate shows, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee will be delivering a blissful performance with her band in Sydney and Melbourne.
Smith, who recorded her famous first album Horses in 1975, will be performing her seminal recording to crowds in Melbourne and Sydney in April. Smith who was in the focal point of the New York punk movement in the mid 70s climbed the ranks with the release of her debut album, reaching critical acclaim despite the lack of airplay at the time.
Smith's performances are unlike any other, delivering beat poetry-infused lyrics. Smith will be performing with two original members of the band – Lenny Kaye and Jay Dee Daughtery – for what will only be described as one not to miss.
April 9 – State Theatre, Sydney NSW
April 16 – Hamer Hall, Melbourne VIC
