NEW ALBUM ON THE WAY FROM THE JEZABELS

There is a serious feminist edge to this new batch of songs. Not that the theme of gender wasn’t prominent in previous releases or the band’s makeup i.e. the band’s name. Here, however, is an album that has its own identity, separate from notions of so-called rock authenticity, and celebrating womanhood.

With Prisoner producer Lachlan Mitchess back onboard for this release, Heather’s expansive use of new synthesisers tethers together layer upon layer in what are textural soundscapes, both beautifully dense and, at times, mystically spacious.

“We were back in Sydney [from London] in January, we just got together to hehearse and we wrote about four songs in a week,” says vocalist Hayley Mary. Things couldn’t come easier for a band entering their third full-length release. And from the sound of it, the final product couldn’t sound any better either.
