By tucking all the sophisticated modelling technology of the Helix into a super compact package, Line 6’s POD Go is a very tempting option for space savvy (or budget conscious) guitarists. The colour LCD screen makes navigating menus and arranging patches simple and intuitive, while the colour coded patch displays and eight footswitches let you skip between sounds with lightning quick speed and efficiency.
Packed with over 270 HX amp models, emulations of classic valve and solid state amp models and a wide range of vintage and modern effects, there’s really no sound that you can’t conquer with this new unit. You can even load in third party Impulse Responses to create your own cabinet models, making for a super-personalised tone shaping experience. The POD Go also features a Snapshots modes which lets you create up to four variations for each patch, letting you move between them without any signal dropout. This removes the clunk you often get when flicking between patches with long delay repeats or reverb trails, which is a feature I’m sure many will savour.
Elsewhere, the POD Go boasts five push encoder knobs to let you find your way around the unit, while an expression pedal allows you to easily control volume, wah, filter and modulation sounds. There’s also an amp output, headphone jack and stereo line out, as well as another input for an expression pedal and a stereo effects loop. The POD Go can even function as a 24-bit/96kHz audio interface, making it a superb tool for any guitarist to have in their arsenal.
