NAMM 2019: EVH recreates Eddie Van Halen’s famed Shark guitar

The Striped Series Shark is a recreation of EVH’s original Shark guitar, known for its unusual appearance thanks to some unconventional DIY courtesy of Eddie himself. The original angular offset axe ended up with a chunk sawed out of its body, resulting in a jagged look resembling teeth and a quick paint job of silver and burgundy stripes.

The 2019 model offers a more refined design, featuring an angular ash body, maple neck, and a fast-playing 12”-16” compound radius Pau Ferro fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets. Custom EVH Wolfgang alnico 2 Humbucker bridge and neck pickups also feature on the guitar, plus a low-friction volume knob with treble bleed.

To top it all off, EVH has complemented the memorable Burgundy with Silver Stripes finish by incorporating gold and chrome Gotoh tuners, a three-way toggle switch on a brass mounting plate, and black numbered speed knobs.
