Muse reminisce on classic ’80s films in video for new track ‘Something Human’

The song is an atmospheric ballad focusing on the need for society to re-engage with human emotions. Accompanying the track is an ‘80s-inspired clip, directed by Lance Drake, which follows frontman Matt Bellamy’s journey to return some VHS tapes to a video store.

The clip also seems to double as a tribute to the work of Michael J. Fox, with references to Teen Wolf and Back to the Future scattered throughout the narrative.

“Life on the road can bring out your inner beast, this song and video is about taming that beast, desiring a return to something human. Plus, Teen Wolf is cool,” says Bellamy.

Check out the video below and see if you can catch all the ‘80s references:

While details on the album release remain scarce for the time being, we’re hopeful the record will be released in the very near future. It marks the eighth studio album from the trio and acts as the follow-up to 2015’s Drone.
