Hysterical Records Launched For International Women's Day

In celebration of International Women’s Day, three heavy hitters of the Melbourne music industry - Amanda Vitartas from publicity company Future Popes, Grace Kindellan of the band Wet Lips and Jenny McKechnie (Cable Ties/Wet Lips) - have announced that they are forming a new label, Hysterical Records.

The group have stated that the new enterprise was founded 'to provide a voice for a diverse collection of artists that fit outside the mainstream and to provide creative inspiration and challenge societal and industry truisms'. The label's focus will be on supporting a diverse collection of artists and work as a strengthening force in the artistic community.

Alongside Wet Lips themselves, the label has announced its first signing with fellow Melbourne punks Shrimpwitch who will be releasing their debut EP through the label in May.

To celebrate, Hysterical Records will be throwing a launch party at Melbourne's The Old Bar in Fitzroy on Friday April 7 with live performances from Wet Lips, Shrimpwitch and Hexdebt.
