Marshall reissue the 1959HW Bernie Marsden Whitesnake Plexi amplifier

Powered by four EL34 output valves and three ECC83 tubes in the preamp section, the 1959HW Bernie Marsden is a 100 watt monster perfect for chugging riffs and soaring leads. It’s based on Marsden’s own 1978 Marshall Plexi, which was a reissue of a 1959 model in itself, which featured some little tweaks to let him tap into some extra gain through the amplifier.

With this new reissue, Marshall claim that they’ve adjusted the global feedback in the power amp section to allow for some extra expression and punch as well as placing an empahsis on the higher midrange tone of the amp, making for an ultra-responsive amplifier suitable for hard rock styles. There’s controls for Presence, Bass, Middle, Treble and two separate Volume knobs, with four inputs allowing for that classic jumper lead tone boost that so many players savour from these older Marshall amps. It’s also covered in a sweet looking faux snakeskin, which is coloured all white – no prizes for what they’re referencing here.

If you want to complete the package, Marshall are also offering this one with a matching 2×12 speaker cabinet, also covered in faux white snakeskin and loaded with a pair of Celestion G12 Vintage speakers. For a box that rocks, you can’t go wrong with this one. Hear how it sounds in the video above.
